JOINT STATEMENT: BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh strongly urge to Bangladesh Government to repeal the provision of death penalty in the existing law.

On the occasion of the 20th World Abolition of Death Penalty Day 2022, Bangladeshi human rights organizations Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have called for the abolition of all clauses containing the provision of death penalty in the existing laws in Bangladesh. Today, on October 10, 2022, BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh urged to the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to abolish death penalty.

 

Advocate Shahanur Islam, Secretary General of JusticeMakers Bangladesh and BIHR, has demanded for life imposing life imprisonment in serious crimes instead of death penalty to avoid cruel, inhuman and humiliating punishments like death penalty.

জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ এবং বি আই এইচ আর এর মহাসচিব প্রখ্যাত মানবাধিকার আইনজীবী অ্যাডভোকেট শাহানূর ইসলাম সৈকত মৃর্ত্যুদণ্ডের মত নিষ্ঠুর,অমানবিক ও অবমাননাকর শাস্তি প্রদান হতে বিরত থেকে গুরুত্বর অপরাধের ক্ষেত্রে যাবজ্জীবন শাস্তি প্রদানের আহবান জানিয়েছে।

 

JOINT STATEMENT: BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh are deeply concerned over physical assault against a sexual minority homosexual gay teenager boy in Dhaka

 Bangladeshi Human rights organizations Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights (BIHR) and JusticeMakers Bangladesh have expressed deep concern over the recent case of physically assault and extortion after wrongfully confinement of a homosexual gay minority youth boy in Mirpur area of ​​Dhaka.

At the same time, BIHR and JusticeMakers Bangladesh strongly demanded that all the criminals directly or indirectly involved in the incident should be quickly identified and arrested and given exemplary punishment with due process.

সম্প্রতি ঢাকার কেরানীগঞ্জে বাসবাসরত এক যৌন প্রবৃত্তগত সংখ্যালঘু সমকামী/গে কিশোরকে সমকামীতার ফাঁদে ফেলে ঢাকা মিরপুর এলাকার এক বাসায় আটক রেখে শারীরিক নির্যাতন ও মুক্তিপন আদায়ের ঘটনায় মানবাধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠান বাংলাদেশ ইনস্টিটিউট অব হিউম্যান রাইটস (বিআইএইচআর) এবং জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে।

 

একই সাথে উক্ত ঘটনার সাথে প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষভাবে জড়িত সকল অপরাধীকে দ্রুত চিহ্নিতপূর্বক গ্রেফতার করে বিচারান্তে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি প্রদানের জোর দাবী জানিয়েছে বিআইএইচআর এবং জাস্টিসমেকার্স বাংলাদেশ।
